Tàijí (Tai Chi) 太極 and Qìgōng 氣功 Workshop, Galway Community Circus Center, Galway, Ireland
Tàijí at Lake Atitlán
Tàijí (Tai Chi) 太極 and Qìgōng 氣功, have been practiced since ancient times as a way to develop ones Life-Energy (Chi/Qì, 氣) and move back to a natural condition. This process improves health, boosts vitality, re-establishes natural energetic flows, calms and centers the mind and brings our whole system back into one integrated Being.
In the Tàijí Tào system the primary focus is Tàijí-Dān 太極丹 (Alchemical Tàijí/Moving Meditation). Using mind, breath and body working together to cultivate our Life-Energy, this also cultivates the mind as the relationship it has with our body and energies changes and develops.
Every precision cycle of this moving meditation purifies and strengthens our Chi (Qì), by connecting the awareness back to the feeling of the body movements. As the movement refines, so too does the mind.
“Life-Energy (Chi/Qì) is extremely important, although we take it for granted and forget about it most of the time.
With proper training, you can grow, strengthen and develop your Life-Energy — the vital force that is responsible for your life and your ability to grow and heal.”

Though Tàijí is more known for cultivating our Chi (Qi) to develop health and martial arts it also has a way bigger aim, to use that Chi toward the highest goal, of reconnecting with our Té (德), our fundamental innate nature, so our energy flows inside us as life energy, spirit, and consciousness. This means improving and progressing towards the unlimited ultimate, the immense existence and the great eternal.
How Does Tàijí Change Our Fundamental Nature?
Tàijí can teach us how to focus our mind like a laser beam, burning through all of the pollution and distractions of the artificial world.
It can help us raise our energy frequency so high that negative energy and attachments simply fall away because they can no longer cling to us.
Tàijí heals the separation between us and the One Living Energy of the Universe — a powerful Field also known as Tào’s (道) One-Chi (一氣, or “Yīqì”).
“Tàijí is the tool to bring back your original connection to the inherent intelligence of this Field of powerful Energy, what many call God. This is the real goal and experience of Tàijí mastery.”

This workshop is an introduction to Tàijí and Qìgōng and is suitable for beginners while continuing students can deepen in their practice. The emphasis lies in cultivating Chi flow/formation by developing mindful attention and body posture.
In this workshop students will learn each Single Form required to then learn the Attaching Hand Form Sequence. They can then practice these on their own.
Single Form (Dāncāo Gōngfǎ 單操功法), sometimes known as Cyclic Form training method, is repetitious, moving in very specific simple cycles so to develop a deep experiential understanding of the principal flow of energy inherent to each form.
The Single Forms and sequence will be taught step by step over the 2 days.
Sitting Meditation (Dǎzuò, 打坐) will make up a smaller part of this course.
With Tàijí moving meditation, we are trying to reprogram ourselves. As we grow up, we pick up wrong patterns about how to move, how to feel and who we are. Tàijí restores the original program we were born with.

After covering expenses, all proceeds will go to Qīxīng Tàijí Tào Temple and Monastery, a registered US 501(c)3 non-profit charity. (https://www.taotemple.org/outreach-donate)
Qīxīng Tàijí Tào Temple is a registered non profit charity 501(c)3 and survives purely on donations from those who see the wisdom in preserving the teachings of Tào. Additionally we have various outreach projects that support the local indigenous Mayan people who are among the lowest-income and most at-risk communities in Central America.
We offer work-skill apprenticeships and extensive sustainable-farming programs, providing ongoing employment and work-skill improvement for numerous (ranging 30 – 45) local men and women who otherwise struggle to find work. This substantially improves the living situation for these small communities, allowing families consistent access to proper nutrition, necessary home improvements, education and medical care. Our projects directly aid between 200 and 250 local people, and indirectly benefit hundreds more.
